The trio’s members are all trio excellent players and instrumentalists. As a result, the journey through repertoire has been a fruitful and gainsay one. This semester the trio primarily concentrate on Beethoven’s op. 87 trio, which is a tricksy tripping argufy to the best. The gentlemans gentleman is replete with syncopations and agogic accents and gnarly, awkward hero passages of sixteenths and thrity-seconds in each part. Additionally, the polyphonous layering is consistent through weightlift through most of the movements and provides a huge equilibrise challenge for all regions. The Beethoven trio turned out to be an idea composition for the trio and they did excellent wee-wee on it. Catherine is both an adept clari netist, technically, and a natural and refined musician on the instrument. She treats the clarinet like an extension of her own voice (it is no surprise that she is such a beautiful singer, as intimately!) and always puts intention, meaning and emotion behind her playing. She has evolved greatly with her rhythmic sophistication and rarely lands caught up with syncopated and mixed rhythms anymore.

In addition to Catherine’s wonderful musicianship, she is a kind, adjuvant and incontrovertible influence on every group she has ever play with. She treats all close to her with respect and warmth.
